Almost everyone has sugar cravings. I know I absolutely do, especially at specific times of the year, specific times of the month, even specific times of the day. Rather than depending on processed sugar to satisfy my cravings, I add naturally sweet foods to my daily diet to satisfy my sweet tooth.
In the winter, sweeter veggies are what’s in season because nature knows we will actually crave more sweets at this time of year. But isn’t it interesting that most all grow in or very close to the ground?
Sweet vegetables like carrots, onions, beets, winter squashes, sweet potatoes, & yams, soothe the internal organs of the body and energize the mind. Root vegetables in particular are energetically grounding, which helps to balance out the spaciness people often feel after eating other kinds of sweet foods. Adding in sweet vegetables helps to crowd out less healthy foods in the diet.
