If you can’t convince your mind to change moods immediately, then change your body.
The other morning I woke up and got out of bed to go to the bathroom, but then decided I was still super tired. So I went back to bed but couldn’t fall asleep.
I couldn’t fall back asleep because my mind was going crazy. I started thinking about conversations I needed to have, people I wanted to talk to. I started worrying about things and became anxious. This didn’t make me feel good, and I noticed my body was tensing up.
I decided to grab my phone and bury myself in social media so I could keep my mind off of those not so good feelings. After having a quick text chat with a friend, I realized I wasn’t doing the quickest thing that would change the state of my mind: changing my body.
Most times you’ve got to get your mind in the game and your body will follow. But the opposite works too. When your mind is struggling with something, change the state or stance of your body, your physiology.
People feel so much better after they go for a run, take a yoga class or go work out. It’s not because they toned up in that one hour or less, or are immediately healthier. It’s because they changed the state of their body (physiology) and received immediate mental benefits.
Watch this video and I’ll show you how you can gain confidence in 1 min by changing your body.
This week, I challenge you to practice being more confident by changing your physiology, with the help of this video.
