Italian Turkey Stuffed Pepper
Ingredients
- 1 small onion, grated or finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 cups marinara sauce, divided
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 4 bell peppers (any color), halved and seeded
- 2 tablespoons of oregano
- 2 tablespoons of basil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 and grease a 9x13 baking dish.
- Chop onion, garlic.
- Grate cheese (optional).
- In a large bowl, mix onion, oregano, basil, egg, 3 tablespoons of the marinara sauce, garlic, salt, and pepper.
- Mix in the turkey.
- Arrange peppers in the baking dish, then fill the halves with turkey mixture, dividing equally and mounding slightly.
- Pour marinara sauce over the stuffed peppers.
- Bake uncovered until peppers are tender and beginning to brown, about 45 minutes. Allow to cool slightly and serve.
- Best served over wild rice for dinner.
